This Friday we will study the development of modern juke into a genre referred to as hard drum with Iriy label’s head - Luther.
The two labels that will represent this development for us, are B.YRSLF Division and Worldwide Unlimited. B.YRSLF was a multi-national label ran by Taoufik Allabouch aka Daryll. The label focused on fast bass music of France, US, British origins, particularly on juke, but the label also dabbed in early grime and experimental music (early albums by Ducky were released here). The label seized acitivity along with its sister label Widad in 2015, but it left a prominent mark on the leftfield bass scene.
On the other side, we have Worldwide Unlimited. Is a pioneering label of the hard drum genre. The label introduced artists like Nick Leon, Henzo and BFTT to the post-juke music scene.

Veryval (Valeria Obodzinska) is a DJ from the Khmelnytskyi region, who spent most of her life in Kharkiv and currently lives in Kyiv. Her musical taste began to develop from an admiration for Bristol artists and later was influenced by the parties at the legendary Kharkiv club "Zhivot," where her desire to become a DJ first emerged.
In just a year of DJing, she has performed at the Strichka festival, in clubs such as SomePeople, Brukxt, and Closer Connections, and has hosted her series of podcasts, Percept Room, on Gasoline Radio.
For the artist, music sets are one way to convey her vision of beauty and aesthetics. Her love for trip-hop and drum and bass intertwines in her selections, harmoniously blending with instrumental, minimalist, and dub rhythms. Her sets invite smooth movements, attentive listening, and immersion in sound.
uiava is the musical project of Eli Ravec, which combines deep bass and vintage grooves with hypnotic melodies. Each of her sets is a thoughtful musical journey created with the belief that music can touch the deepest emotions and bring people together in the moment.
Originally from Donetsk, uiava settled in Warsaw after 2014, and her experience as a refugee became an important source of her inspiration. She embodies these experiences in her musical experiments, including her own podcast 121/2, where she describes through sounds the emotions of running away from home and finding a new life.
Eli's work was strongly influenced by jazz, funk, disco, early hip-hop and the love for perfect sound instilled by her father, a hi-fi music systems engineer. Her approach to music is "depth, not speed" and this is felt in every mix.

On Friday, the shortest day of the year amidst a cold winter, Geyera will present heated tracks from the Enchilada label, based in Lisbon and inspired by Angolan festival dance music. The label has a long (by modern club music standards) history, starting with its foundation in 2006. Branco and Kalaf Angelo, from the group Buraka Som Sistema, founded the label to present the influences of diasporic sounds on the Lisbon club scene.
They were particularly interested in representing music inspired by kuduro and zuok baton, prominent styles from Luanda, and Angola in the 80s and the 90s. With the years the focus of the label grew encompassing more and more musicians, with various musical backgrounds. Future stars like Melo D, DJ Marfox, and Dotorado Pro have grown and developed on Enchilada increasing the spectrum of diasporic polyrhythmic bass music released here.
